Activities
Winter is what Fernie is known for thanks to
the annual snowfall average of 29 feet and the two local
world-class resorts Fernie Alpine Resort and Island Lake
Lodge. Sleigh rides, skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling,
snowshoeing, skating, ice fishing are just a few of the
activities available in winter.

Travel:
Mountain
Pursuits WINTER: Ski or board the backcountry with bowls
of great powder, steep tree runs and untracked lines from the

meadow strolls through 500-year-old cedar forests and

Country Skiing:
Fernie's Leisure Services Department
provides groomed trails in and around town. Residents and
visitors alike can enjoy a 10km (approximate) looping trail.
Explore Fernie's parks, the dike trail adjacent to the Elk
River, as well as the Fernie Golf Course and other picturesque

Fernie
Alpine Resort Fernie Alpine Resort offers self-guided
cross country skiing at the base of the resort. Ski tours and
lessons are also available daily, with flexible departure
times, lasting two or three hours. All ages welcome. A minimum
of two guests is required.
